Why did Janice the cat go viral?

The singer has battled cancer since 2022, when she was first diagnosed. In the same year the disease spread, but in January 2024 it seriously affected his lungs.

After learning about the difficult situation she was facing, the 31-year-old penned a heartwarming song for her 7-year-old son titled 'Dance You Outta My Head', which went viral on various platforms.

Cat Janice's intention was to leave all royalties from the song to her son as a financial aid.

Who is Cat Janice?

He has released several albums throughout his career, including his debut in 2014 and the album 'Fire' the following year, with southern rock influences. In 2019, he won a Washington Area Music Award (WAMMY) in the Best Rock Artist category. His song 'Pricey' appeared in a 2020 episode of 'Selling Sunset'. Additionally, his music was part of the TV show 'Redneck Island'.

In 2022, Janice the cat discovered a tumor on her neck and was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancerous tumor in Scale's muscle. Despite his illness, he continued to work as a geographic information scientist, earned a master's degree in coastal geology, and composed his own music. He underwent surgery and chemotherapy to treat the tumor. During her treatment, she worked on her 'Modern Medicine' album, which included the sentimental song 'Wishing I Was You', which was inspired by her experience with cancer.

In January 2023, Kate Janis released the song 'Chill the Eff Out', a song about stress and feeling overwhelmed. Although doctors declared him cancer-free, the disease reappeared in his lungs shortly after. Kate Janis continued to fight, and in the summer of 2023, performed alongside SOJA at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. That same year, she became engaged to her boyfriend, Kyle Higginbotham, and they married in December, knowing their time was short.

On January 19, 2024, four days after starting chemotherapy, Kate Janis released her song 'Dance You Outta My Head' on TikTok. Co-written with Max Vernon, the song is about overcoming adversity and simply dancing your problems out of your mind.

Kate Janis decided to release the song independently so that the proceeds would benefit her 7-year-old son: “I think they're calling me home. My last happiness would be if you saved my song 'Dance You Outta My Head.' My timeline and reproduction, because all The proceeds will also go directly to my son,” he wrote at the time.
