“I'm glad to be here”

(CNN) — As many were excited about the Album of the Year award at this year's Grammys, Celine Dion upped the ante by introducing the category this Sunday.

“When I say I'm happy to be here, I mean it from the heart,” Dion said to loud applause from the stage.

Dion shared that she was diagnosed with Difficult Person Syndrome in 2022, a condition she said doesn't allow her to sing “like I used to.”

The disorder is “a rare, progressive syndrome that affects the nervous system, particularly the brain and spinal cord,” according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

“Although we're still learning about this rare condition, we now know it's the cause of all my seizures,” Dion said at the time. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect all aspects of my daily life, sometimes making it difficult for me to walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing like I used to.”

The singer recently announced that she will chronicle her journey in a new documentary called “I Am: Celine Dion.” He said that he hopes to be able to act again.

“The past few years have been a huge challenge for me, a journey from discovering my condition to learning to live with it and manage it, but not let it define me,” she recently wrote on her Instagram page. “As the road to resuming my acting career continues, I realize how much I miss out on not being able to see my fans.”

She said she wanted to “document” this part of her life through her film, and to “raise awareness of this little-known condition and help others who share this diagnosis.”

Dion stays out of the public eye as he focuses on his health.

“Those of us lucky enough to be at the Grammy Awards should never take for granted the immense love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people around the world,” Dion said Sunday.

He recalled that the album of the year award was presented to him 27 years ago by Diana Ross and Sting.

Taylor Swift took home tonight's Celine Dion award for “Midnights.” It marked Swift's fourth Grammy Award, making her the most successful artist in that category.
