(CNN Spanish) — The year 4721 begins in the Chinese calendar. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. Chinese legend says that the Buddha asked all animals to find him on New Year’s Day, and named the twelve animals that arrived each year.

The animals of the Chinese calendar are Dog, Pig/Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey and Rooster.

Also, according to legend, those born in each animal year have certain personality traits of that animal.

Rat
