Oklahoma City, — Nonprofit organisation Housing for Communities, Inc. has announced a series of initiatives and updates as it closes out the year and looks ahead to 2026, with an emphasis on expanding access to affordable housing and community development opportunities across Oklahoma.
The November update highlights several key priorities, including the launch of the organisation’s Giving Tuesday campaign, a detailed recap of the From Policy to Possibility event, and new consulting and programme openings for 2025–2026. Additional training sessions, housing fairs, and community partnerships are also on the calendar, reflecting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to “build homes, hope, and opportunity for Oklahomans statewide.”
From Policy to Possibility: A Roadmap for Housing
On 14 October, Housing for Communities hosted From Policy to Possibility, a multi-session event in Oklahoma City that gathered community leaders, developers, policymakers, and housing advocates to discuss the state’s future housing needs.
The event featured interactive mapping exercises and data-driven discussions based on the Oklahoma Housing Demand Study, which outlines housing demand by county and income level. Participants reviewed county-level data, engaged in “hands-on map walks,” and collaborated on strategies to address key challenges, including affordability gaps, workforce housing shortages, ageing housing stock, and zoning barriers.
The event also offered an early look at the forthcoming Oklahoma Housing Policy Paper, scheduled for release in January 2026, which will summarise insights and recommendations from the sessions.

Expanding Access Through the HOME Programme
Housing for Communities continues to expand its HOME Programme, which provides both rental and ownership opportunities for households earning 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less.
Currently available is the Haven – Homeownership Opportunity, offering a move-in-ready home for households earning 60% AMI or below. Additional homes will soon be available in several Oklahoma communities:

In the lead-up to Giving Tuesday, the nonprofit is calling on supporters to help expand safe and affordable housing across Oklahoma.
“This year on Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join Housing for Communities, Inc. in expanding access to safe, affordable housing across Oklahoma. Every gift—from $25 to $1,000—makes a real difference in housing programs, training for nonprofits, and statewide data tools,” the organisation said.

Consulting Openings and Technical Assistance
Housing for Communities has also opened limited consulting and technical assistance slots for 2025–2026. Services include project strategy support, application preparation, and housing policy consultation.

Upcoming Events and 2026 Outlook
The organisation’s upcoming schedule includes the Oklahoma Housing Summit on 10 November at Metro Tech, Oklahoma City, followed by a two-day IECC Training Course on 8–9 December at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center. The latter will offer hands-on instruction on the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code, with participants eligible for 16 hours of Real Estate CE Credit.
Looking ahead to Spring 2026, Housing for Communities will launch a Faith-Based Land and Senior Housing Training series, designed to help religious organisations repurpose underutilised property for workforce and senior housing development. The group is also planning statewide Housing Fairs, connecting residents and developers with affordable housing resources.
