In a recent statement, Financiera Cimex SA (Fincimex) warned of the risks involved in using informal channels to send remittances to Cuba.

According to the authority, these paths It is defined As “any transaction carried out outside the current regulatory framework”, which generates high risks for both senders and recipients on the island.

They point out that since the unilateral closure of official channels for sending remittances to Cuba by the United States government in November 2020, informal channels have gained ground. In this sense, they argue that the impossibility of using institutional means to send financial assistance to family members has led many people to resort to unregulated methods.

“These informal methods still exist today, and have been developed and given different fashions,” warns Vincimax, making them look attractive, but very dangerous.

The financial company confirms that the inquiries it receives usually arrive late, once the error occurs. Many families have fallen victim to fraud and scams through these unregulated channels.

Find out about Fincimex's official options for sending money transfers to Cuba.

The statement stressed the importance of using official and regulated channels to send money transfers to Cuba, which ensures security and speed.

Among the available options are Tocopay.com, Titanes.com, OceanCard.com, enviodinero.ca, and Moneychange.com. He also mentions other entities such as Orbit SA and Correos de Cuba. Likewise, bank transfers to Cuban commercial banks are reliable options for making these shipments.

“It is very easy to find those who sell money transfer services to Cuba on social networks,” says Fincimex. In this way, it warns users to be careful about promotions or to uncover unofficial services.
