Fairview Municipal Airport has completed a $1.86 million infrastructure project that adds three new aircraft hangars, expanding aviation capacity and creating additional space for aerospace-related business activity in northwest Oklahoma.

The City of Fairview, Fairview Municipal Airport and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) marked the completion of the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the airport. The investment represents another step in efforts to strengthen local aviation infrastructure while supporting economic development tied to Oklahoma’s broader aerospace sector.

Three New Hangars Expand Aircraft Storage Capacity

The project delivered three box hangars, each measuring 60 feet by 60 feet. The additional facilities substantially increase the airport’s available aircraft storage space while providing greater operational flexibility for aviation businesses and aircraft owners using the facility.

Hangar availability can be an important factor in the development of smaller municipal airports, particularly as communities seek to attract aviation companies and accommodate increased general aviation activity. Modern storage and operating facilities can also help airports make better use of existing runways, taxiways and other infrastructure.

For Fairview, the new hangars provide physical capacity that can support both current airport users and future aviation-related development.

The $1.86 million investment also demonstrates the role municipal airports can play beyond passenger transportation. Airports serving smaller communities frequently function as economic infrastructure, providing facilities for private aircraft, aviation companies, manufacturing operations and other businesses that depend on direct airport access.

Bearhawk Aircraft to Establish Production Operations at Airport

One of the three newly completed hangars will become the production home of Bearhawk Aircraft following the company’s recent relocation to the Fairview area.

The company’s presence gives the hangar expansion an additional economic-development component. Rather than being used exclusively for aircraft storage, part of the new infrastructure will directly accommodate aerospace production activity.

Locating an aircraft business at a municipal airport can create operational advantages by placing production activities close to aviation infrastructure. It can also help generate additional airport activity and establish opportunities for related services and businesses.

Bearhawk Aircraft’s move to the area illustrates how investments in local airport facilities can support efforts to attract specialized aerospace operations to smaller communities.

Airport Investment Supports Northwest Oklahoma’s Aviation Economy

The completion of the new facilities comes as Oklahoma continues to emphasize aerospace and aviation as important components of the state’s economy. Municipal airports form part of that network by connecting communities with business aviation, aircraft operations and aerospace companies.

For northwest Oklahoma, additional aviation infrastructure can provide benefits beyond the airport property itself. Aerospace and aviation operations can contribute to local economic activity through employment, business spending, maintenance services, manufacturing and other supporting industries.

The partnership involving the City of Fairview, Fairview Municipal Airport and ODAA also highlights the coordination often required to expand aviation infrastructure at the community level. Investments in hangars and other airport facilities can position smaller airports to accommodate new businesses while maintaining capacity for existing users.

With all three hangars now completed, Fairview Municipal Airport has additional space to support aircraft operations and future growth. The arrival of Bearhawk Aircraft further connects the infrastructure investment with business development, giving one of the facilities an immediate aerospace production role.

The $1.86 million project ultimately expands Fairview’s aviation footprint while providing infrastructure intended to support longer-term aerospace and economic activity across northwest Oklahoma.
