The repatriation of Cubans stranded in Haiti is ready and will begin when flight operations resume at Toussaint Louverture International Airport. This was confirmed by the Cuban Embassy in Haiti through X social media.

Let's remember that this airport was the center of clashes between gangs and Haitian police forces. Hence, it became necessary to shut down its services as the chaos grew in the city.

The fact is that according to the official release of the Cuban Embassy in Haiti, flights returning to the island will have two destinations. These will be Camaguey and Santiago de Cuba, while passengers from other provinces will be transported to their respective destinations by Transtour buses.

What is the current status of the stranded people in Haiti?

Negotiations continue to set up transitional powers in the Caribbean country. In this case, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Barilla indicated that more than 2,000 Cubans are stranded in Haiti.

But in addition, there are different conditions that experience the different nuances of the Haitian conflict. However, Rodríguez Parrilla indicated that the island's authorities are maintaining contact with Cubans and their families in Haiti.

“There are more than 2,000 Cubans in Haiti in different situations who are receiving help from our government,” the foreign minister commented.

On the other hand, about 53 Cuban health collaborators based in the South are working in Haiti. The good news is that there are calmer times in this geographical area.

In addition, the diplomat noted “seven colleagues from the medical cooperation in Port-au-Prince, who, along with diplomatic officials, took security measures.”

Let's remember that the violent acts in Haiti in early March caught the eye of the Cubans Others Foreigners who have traveled to that country.

As a result of such a volatile situation, the United States has already taken several steps to evacuate its nationals.
