(CNN) — The Academy Awards took an unexpected turn this Sunday. Emma Stone, who won the best actress Oscar for her role in “Poor Things,” suffered a wardrobe mishap minutes before she went on stage to accept her trophy.

“My dress was torn,” Stone said as she went to accept her Academy Award. Once on stage, she began her acceptance speech by admitting to a wardrobe malfunction in what appeared to be a torn zipper or seam in the back of her Louis Vuitton dress.

“I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken,'” she explained, referring to Ryan Gosling's performance of her song from the movie “Barbie” and, presumably, some of her dance moves (because, who wouldn't dance with Gosling if given the chance?

"Don't look at the back of my dress," Stone said as he wrapped up his acceptance speech — a noble plea, but one that could have drawn more attention to the issue of non-prohibition.

Speaking to reporters backstage, Stone said she was “carried away” by Gosling's performance: “I was just in awe of Ryan and what he was doing, and that number blew me away.”

“They had to stitch me back up, which was amazing,” he revealed.

Stone, now a two-time Oscar winner, earlier stunned on the red carpet outside Hollywood's Dolby Theater in her favorite Vuitton look, which featured a strapless bodice and shell detailing. The actress was dressed by renowned fashion and celebrity stylist Petra Flannery.

Stone won her first Oscar in 2017 for her role in “La La Land,” which also starred Gosling. In fact, the pair shared the microphone for a few lines during Gosling's performance of “I'm Just Ken” tonight.

Stone isn't the only famous celebrity to have fashion mishaps at the Oscars: In a 2022 interview with Harper's Bazaar, Charlize Theron said that the seams of the Vera Wang dress she wore to the 2000 Oscars tore. Seat.. “When I stood up for the first round of applause, I felt a cold breeze coming over my butt,” he said. “I felt my whole butt exposed.”

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, actress Jenny Slade spoke about a similar moment when she joined her “Everything Everywhere All at Ones” castmates on stage at the 2023 Oscars, saying she “pushed” the ripped lapels onstage so no one would notice.
