Earth will have another full moon at the end of September… how long will it last?

The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite, but another smaller moon will appear later in the month

Astronomical phenomena are often both fascinating and disturbing. This is no exception, as experts expected the Earth to have two moons for a certain period from the end of September.

The fact is, the minimoon is actually a small asteroid called 2024 PT5, which was discovered on August 7 by the Terrestrial-Asteroid Impact Alert System (ATLAS).

Precisely this robotic astronomical reconnaissance observatory and optimal early warning system is tasked with detecting small objects near our planet weeks or days before a possible impact.

The object in question is on a trajectory that would trap it in Earth's gravitational pull for a period of time, reports the site Gizmodo.

According to calculations by Carlos and Raul de la Fuente Marcos, researchers at Complutense University in Madrid, Spain, the asteroid will orbit the Earth from September 29 to November 25.

In fact, according to Earthsky, astronomers warn that even those who have telescopes in their homes will not have a chance to see it, since in the best cases its magnitude value will be 22 (objects are visible to the naked eye. Magnitude 6 or less).
