Does the length of the day change? An unintended consequence that America and the world could suffer

The negative effects of climate change are already reflected in various ways. For example, extreme temperatures and increasingly powerful weather events around the world. However, scientists are warning of a tumultuous future.

By Time

A study cited by USA Today found that the effects of the climate emergency are so profound that they affect the Earth's axis, create changes in the planet's core, and slow its rotation.

The danger of this is that, according to scientists, it lasts for days and in the future, there may be important effects on the waves.

What happens is that as the planet warms and the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets melt, water from the poles flows into the world's oceans, especially toward the equator, which changes the shape of the Earth.

One of the authors of this theory, Benedict Soja of the Swiss university ETH, explained that conditions affect the Earth's rotation and when it rotates more slowly, the days become longer.

The report also explains that another effect of the slowing of the Earth's rotation is tidal friction caused by the Moon. If greenhouse gases continue to be emitted and the Earth continues to warm, this will have a greater impact on the speed of the cycle than the effect of the moon, experts said.

Given this discovery, scientists have called us to be more aware of the impact we have on the planet and our responsibility to protect its future.

Will climate change change forcing schedules?

It is worth clarifying that although scientists have found evidence that the Earth rotates slowly, so the days are getting longer, the effect is small and unnoticeable.

As they say, the change is only a few milliseconds per day, so there should be no change in our regular schedule. But that doesn't mean there aren't important consequences.
