Miguel Diaz-Connell Bermudas, First Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee and President of the Republic, while speaking in the context of the Committee of Ministers this Wednesday, endorsed Cuba’s position and policies regarding the 9th US Summit. It will take place in Los Angeles, USA from June 6 to 10.

We all know, he stressed, that the US government, from the very beginning, conceived this US summit in a non-consensual way. “From the original design of the US government, from its initial purpose, it was proposed that the summit would not be inclusive.

In this regard, he stressed that “the United States is making serious efforts and mobilizing brutal pressure to mobilize the legitimate and decisive demands of the majority of countries in the region that the summit should be inclusive.”

“All of these calls for a summit are in line with the context in which all the claims of the regional powers and the United States are being acted upon,” he stressed.

In the context of the meeting of the highest body of the Cuban government, the President thanked the “courageous and dignified position of the countries that raised their voices against the exemptions at the US summit.”

We want to emphasize — he said — that we share the position of regional leaders who are committed to calling everyone equal.

“I assure you that I will not attend the US summit because of the circumstances under which all the proceedings of the summit took place and because of the attitude of the US government,” he said.

As always, we know that Cuba’s voice will be heard at the 9th US Summit, as he has done in the past – he concluded.
