As I said in the last part of last year I started to think that Sony didn’t have much stock issues with the PlayStation 5 console and that all this fuss around the console was well thought out and targeted marketing campaign. Current epidemic. Just think how much hype has been created on social media, especially Dictok, which has created thousands of PlayStation 5 videos.

Now back to this point, Sony has released the financial data for the last calendar quarter of 2020, i.e. the October-December period. In three months, the Japanese company has sold about 4.5 million PlayStation 5 consoles. Adding 1.4 million PlayStation 4 consoles + record game sales marks the best financial quarter in Sony’s gaming segment history. Not bad, is it? Profits were not bad either, reaching $ 763 million, an increase of 50% over the same period in 2019.

Unfortunately for fans, the production of the PlayStation 5 console will be affected by the real crisis. AMD has production issues, so the amount of processors offered to Sony will be greatly reduced in the coming months.

As for the mobile segment, Sony is performing worse and worse (even if some rumors were told differently in the fall). In an environment where October-December is the best time to sell each year, Sony sold only 1 million phones (the same period in 2019 vs. 23%). By 2020, Sony had sold only 2.8 million smartphones.
