Danielismo dominates the PLD Central Committee

In the elections to determine the 110 vacancies in the Central Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), many former officials of the government of Danilo Medina were elected on the basis of the necessary renewal for the first time in 16 years.

According to preliminary official figures released yesterday by the Election Commission, the vote was 11,485 votes, led by former Economy Minister Juan Ariel Jimenez; Third place went to former Youth Minister Robiami Balkesar with 9,980 votes, followed by former candidate for the National District Senator Rafael Boss with 9,648 votes.

In 20th place was former public health minister Rafael Sanchez Cordenas with 4,872 votes; Former Director of the National Health Service (SNS) Chanel Rosa Subani is ranked 26th with 4,658 votes, while former Public Works Minister Ramon Beban is ranked 17th with 5,318 votes.

Another candidate for the Central Committee, Roberto Rodriguez Marchena, the former communications director of the National Palace, holds 75 seats with 2,478 votes.

Last Sunday, the PLD elected 300 new members to the Central Committee, which now has less than 955 members.
