Cyngn, the US-based autonomous vehicle technology company, is expanding its presence in the agriculture and food processing sector through a new partnership with systems integrator Chandler Automation, signalling a strategic push beyond its established industrial and manufacturing markets.

The company said Chandler Automation has joined its dealer network and will begin offering Cyngn’s DriveMod Tugger, an autonomous mobile robot designed to transport materials within food processing and packing facilities. The move reflects rising demand among food producers for automation solutions that can address labour shortages, operational inefficiencies and increasing production pressures.

Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Cyngn develops autonomous driving software and vehicles for use in controlled industrial environments. The company is listed on Nasdaq under the ticker CYN and has positioned itself as a provider of scalable autonomy solutions aimed at improving productivity and safety across industrial operations.

Automating internal logistics in food production

The DriveMod Tugger is designed to automate high-frequency material transport tasks, moving goods between processing, inspection, packaging and palletising lines without the need for a human driver. Such internal logistics functions are increasingly viewed as a bottleneck within food production facilities, where manual transport can slow throughput and introduce variability into tightly managed production schedules.

Food processors and agricultural packers are under growing pressure from labour constraints, rising wages and the need to maintain consistent uptime. Automation of repetitive transport tasks allows facilities to operate more continuously, while reducing dependency on manual labour for physically demanding roles.

Cyngn says its autonomous tugger can operate for extended periods, helping producers stabilise material flow and minimise downtime. By removing the need for manual transport between production stages, facilities can redeploy staff to higher-value activities, including quality control and equipment oversight.

Role of Chandler Automation as systems integrator

Chandler Automation will act as a key integration partner, embedding Cyngn’s autonomous vehicles into existing food processing environments. Systems integrators play a central role in industrial automation by tailoring technology to site-specific requirements, ensuring compatibility with existing equipment, layouts and safety standards.

For food processing plants, which often feature complex layouts and strict hygiene requirements, the ability to integrate autonomous vehicles without major infrastructure changes is particularly important. Chandler Automation’s experience in automation and controls positions it to adapt Cyngn’s technology to the unique challenges of agricultural and food production environments.

The partnership allows Chandler Automation to broaden its offering with autonomous transport solutions, while providing Cyngn with access to established relationships within the food and agriculture sector.

Agriculture emerges as a growth market for autonomy

Cyngn’s move into agriculture reflects a broader shift among robotics and autonomy providers seeking new markets beyond automotive manufacturing and warehouse logistics. While automation adoption in food processing has historically been slower, demographic changes and tightening labour markets have accelerated interest in robotics across the sector.

Food production environments present distinct challenges, including variable operating conditions, wet or chilled areas, and strict cleanliness standards. Autonomous mobile robots that can navigate these conditions safely and reliably, without extensive reconfiguration of facilities, are increasingly seen as viable solutions.

By targeting internal logistics rather than core processing tasks, Cyngn is addressing a segment of operations where automation can be deployed incrementally, allowing producers to realise efficiency gains without disrupting existing workflows.

Dealer network strategy supports commercial growth

Expanding its dealer and integrator network remains central to Cyngn’s commercial strategy. Partnerships with firms such as Chandler Automation enable the company to scale deployment of its technology while maintaining a relatively asset-light sales model.

Rather than selling directly into every facility, Cyngn leverages partners with sector expertise and local market knowledge to drive adoption. This approach also allows the company to focus on advancing its autonomous driving software and vehicle platforms, while integrators manage installation and customer support.

Cyngn has not disclosed financial terms related to the partnership or provided revenue forecasts linked specifically to the agriculture sector. However, the expansion underscores the company’s intention to diversify its customer base and address industries facing acute operational challenges.

Automation seen as critical to future resilience

As food producers seek to balance cost pressures with the need for resilient and efficient operations, automation of internal logistics is becoming a priority. Autonomous vehicles capable of operating reliably within production environments offer a way to stabilise output and reduce exposure to labour volatility.

Cyngn’s partnership with Chandler Automation highlights how autonomy providers are adapting their technologies to meet the evolving needs of essential industries. With agriculture and food processing under sustained pressure to modernise, such collaborations are likely to play an increasingly prominent role in shaping the future of production operations.
