Corona virus live message: Fucci warns of ‘rise’ in US lawsuits after Thanksgiving | World News

Japan will saddle with a nearly $ 2 billion bill to cover the additional cost of postponing the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to the corona virus.

The Kyoto News Agency and the Yomiuri newspaper reported that the Games Organizing Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japanese government will determine how much each party will contribute.

The introduction of corona virus countermeasures will incur additional costs, i.e. setting up testing centers, as well as costs related to locations, equipment and labor, Kyoto said.

The Tokyo Games, which open a year later than planned for July 23, 2021, is already the most expensive summer Olympics in history, according to a study by Oxford University.

The official expenditure has been kept at Rs 6 12.6 billion, but a government audit last year said the actual figure would double.

All but 5.6 billion of public money raised the question of how Japanese taxpayers would respond to the even greater financial burden in times of economic uncertainty.

Government of Japan, organizers and the International Olympic Committee [IOC] Emphasize that despite the epidemic, games are still progressing in small form.

During a recent visit to Tokyo, IOC President Thomas Bach warned that the development of the Covit-19 vaccine had raised the possibility of an event, but that they were not “silver bullets.”

Tens of thousands of athletes and officials are expected to be closely monitored and live in isolated conditions during the games. They will be encouraged to avoid visiting trips and leave Japan once their events are over.

No decision has been made regarding foreign fans, however, and some reports suggest that a certain number of people from countries that have brought their infection rates under control may attend.
