Community of Madrid establishes “Science Prizes in Spanish”

The Community of Madrid has established the Science Prizes in Spanish to recognize the activity of persons and entities in promoting research aimed at the general public. For this first edition, works must be submitted before January 31, provided they meet the requirements for publication or release between January 1, 2018, and August 31, 2022.

The prizes, awarded by the madri + d foundation, whose aim is to encourage the use of the Spanish language for the dissemination of this kind of knowledge, will be divided into six categories: the best translation into Spanish of scholarly works or an essay in Spanish of related published works in other languages ​​Publication in local digital and traditional media ; recognition of an outstanding profession; Science Popularization Initiative and Popularization Group.

The judging panel will consist of seven professionals dedicated to communication, research, teaching and management. Publications will be evaluated on interest in current affairs, originality, clarity of presentation, critical sense, ability to reach a wide and diverse audience, and use of informational language while maintaining the rigor of its content and media impact.

Any person, entity, association or institution can apply for these awards. The call resolution will be announced before March 31 of the same year. The winners will receive a statuette and an accreditation diploma, as well as an economic endowment of 3,000 euros, except for the method highlighting the recognition of the path.
