TOKYO , Dec. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today announced the introduction of a new addition to the MR-G line, the flagship of the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. The new MRG-B5000R inherits the iconic shape of the first G-Shock that marks the brand’s point of origin, and features a more comfortable Dura Soft strap.
Based on the concept of “The Ultimate in Endurance-Driven Watches”, the MR-G series is at the pinnacle of the G-SHOCK brand, incorporating cutting-edge technology and superior metalworking techniques. Inheriting the iconic shape of the original G-Shock, the original MRG-B5000 was introduced in 2022. Featuring a multi-card structured bezel to enable precision polishing, the watch uses state-of-the-art materials, including COBARION®, an alloy super-hard, masterfully finished in polishing. With features like these, it has proven to be very popular as the flagship model of the G-SHOCK brand.
The new MRG-B5000R is based on the MRG-B5000 and uses a soft and comfortable Dura Soft strap to provide flexible wearability in line with the G-SHOCK brand’s flagship line. The Dura Soft strap provides strong resistance to fading, staining and degradation over time, while insert molding of titanium components improves the strength of the strap’s attachment to the case. The strap has a soft and comfortable textured feel, providing a comfortable fit even during strenuous activities.
The watch’s design pays homage to the color scheme of the DW-5000C-1B, a gold-accented version of the first G-Shock. A diamond-like carbon coating (DLC) is used on the case and a gold IP coating is used for the side buttons. Gold details are also featured on the face. The strap features textured patterns that borrow design motifs from the first G-Shock, including “Shock Resist” logos and brick patterns.
