Authorities say shooting at Houston church possible

(CNN) — Authorities responded to the shooting Lakewood Church Pastor Joel Osteen, Houston Police Department (HPD) said in a x post On Sunday.

“HPD is responding to reports of a shooting in the 3700 block of Southwest Freeway,” police said. “This is an active and developing situation. Please avoid the area. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” he said.

A Lakewood parishioner at the scene told CNN affiliate KPRC that he was waiting inside the church for the Spanish service to begin when he heard several gunshots. A church usher ordered the man to flee, he told KPRC. According to the church website, the service was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
