The Cabildo de Fuerteventura has given the Majorera Association for Mental Health (ASOMASAMEN) a space for the development of its project ‘Solidarity Caps: Open Window to Mental Health’, located in an industrial warehouse owned by the Insular Corporation in the area de la Hondura, in Puerto del Rosario.

With this assignment, the Cabildo consolidates its collaboration to support this project, which aims to reach the entire population. ASOMASAMEN makes use of part of the property for the first phase of the project, regarding the collection and classification of caps.

ASOMASAMEN is a non-profit organization, created with the aim of achieving a better quality of life for people with serious mental disorders, providing comprehensive care to them and promoting the elimination of stigma and discrimination.

The president of the Cabildo, Sergio Lloret López, thanks the association and team of volunteers who have carried out this social work for twenty years. “We express the absolute commitment of the Island Corporation with this type of associations with a social purpose and we make this space available so that this solidarity plug project can go ahead.”

According to the area councilor, Adargoma Hernández, “this assignment is another step for the Ministry of Social Policies in its support for the associations of Fuerteventura. We support and appreciate the work that ASOMASAMEN has been carrying out in this project that they have been carrying out for a long time.”

The president of the association, Ana Trujillo, thanked the Cabildo for their support of the work they do for prevention in mental health. “We want to do work that is inclusive of mental health and that people know how important it is to maintain rest. We are going to do it through the recycling of caps, so that the people who keep those caps know that they are helping people who today they have mental health processes. “
