An update on the smell of gas in many places in Havana

Over the past few days, a multidisciplinary team made up of experts from the Ñico López Refinery, the Produced Gas Company, the Petroleum Research Center, the Liquefied Gas Company and the Cuba-Petróleo Union carried out air quality measurements. Reports of smell of gas have been received. Also, it has been clarified in the issued note that they are paying close attention to the complaints of the public cube.

On September 5th, there were no complaints from the population, which may be related to the shutdown of the 1st plant of the Ñico López refinery, which has now ended its operations.

The Cuba-Petroleo Union emphasizes the importance of liquefied gas.

To contact the manufactured gas company, you can use phone numbers 72045252, 72045253 and 72076769 and Telegram channel (https://t.me/EGMTC).

Three days ago, the agency said it had launched investigations “to determine the causes and direct measures” regarding the strong smell of gas in various parts of Havana.

Questions about the true source of the smell, potential health effects and long-term effects still linger among people.
