(CNN) — An Alabama woman with two ovaries (a rare condition) got pregnant with both ovaries earlier this year and gave birth to twins.

After a 20-hour labor, Kelsey Hatcher gave birth to her third and fourth children, the unusual twins, on Tuesday and Wednesday last week, according to a news release from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.

Hatcher was induced at 39 weeks and throughout her labor she had double the monitoring, double the records and assigned two labor and delivery nurses, according to the release.

Baby A, Roxy, was born breech at 7:45 p.m. on December 19.

“There was cheers from everyone in the room when the first baby was born, but there was another baby left,” Hatcher's obstetrician Sweda Patel said in a news release. “Kelsey was working mainly on the left uterus while doing postpartum surgery on the right.”

Hatcher was already breastfeeding Baby A when she contracted with Baby B, Patel said.

Almost 10 hours later, baby B, Rebel, was born via C-section at 6:10 a.m. on December 20.

“After such a long, crazy journey, seeing my two daughters together for the first time meant so much,” Hatcher said.

According to doctors, girls are technically twins even though they have two different birthdays and are in two wombs during pregnancy.

“I think it's safe to call girls fraternal twins,” Richard O. Davis, a professor in the UAB Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the physician who co-managed Hatcher's pregnancy, Richard O.

Rebellion and Roxy.

“Finally, two babies in one womb at the same time. They had different apartments,” Davis added.

Hatcher learned she was born with two ovaries, known as uterine didelphis, when she was 17 years old and discovered she was pregnant with both ovaries a few weeks into this pregnancy, the report said.

Case studies estimate the likelihood of such a pregnancy (a woman carrying a baby with two ovaries in each at the same time) in the general population to be 1 in 2 billion, although something so rare cannot be known with certainty.

“Never in our wildest dreams could we have planned a pregnancy and birth like this, but the goal is always to bring our two healthy girls into this world safely, and UAB helped us achieve that,” Hatcher said, “and it's fitting. They have two birthdays. They both have their own 'homes.' ' were, and now they both have separate birth stories.”

CNN's Karma Hassan contributed to this report.
