A ring worth US$800,000 that went missing from a room at the famous Ritz Paris hotel was found inside a vacuum cleaner bag on Sunday morning, the 11th. The owner of the precious jewel, a Malaysian businessman, reported the ring’s disappearance to the Paris-Centre commissioner last Friday. The mystery of the luxury item’s whereabouts was solved after a thorough search by the arena’s security personnel, ruling out the initial possibility of theft.

According to Le Parisien, the Ritz Paris customer, whose identity has not been released and who came to Paris for tourist purposes, was initially suspicious of hotel staff. However, an investigation by the police and hotel security teams revealed that the diamond ring was not stolen but accidentally left empty.

The businessman’s lawyers, Robin Pinchardt and Rebecca Childs, expressed their gratitude to everyone who took part in the proceedings. According to the BBC, the businessman had already left for London on Saturday, a day before the discovery.

The Ritz Paris has offered the Malaysian tourist three free nights as compensation for the incident, although the client reportedly has no plans to accept the business gesture. In the past, the hotel has been involved in other crime incidents, including a 2018 armed robbery at one of its jewelry stores.

At that time, 5 people who came with an ax broke the glass of the luxury shop and stole the jewelry. However, the local authorities arrested 3 people, but the others escaped.
