On Monday, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will present the Dominican Journalist with the “RT-UNESCO Journalist” Award on the eve of World Press Freedom Day.
The announcement was made by Mercedes Castillo, president of the Dominican Press College, who invited journalists to attend the zoom stage at 10:00 a.m. in the Dominican Republic.
Although the winner’s name has not been released, Castillo is a journalist with a long career, standing alone for trade union struggle, democracy, press freedom and the country’s best cause.
The award ceremony was attended by French journalist Guilherme Canela de Sousa Codoi, UNDPCO Head of the Division on Freedom of Expression and Protection of Journalists, CDP President Mercedes Castillo, National Library Director Rafael Beralda Romero and Ambassador Andres L. Medio, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to UNESCO.
The UNESCO-Guillermo Canoe World Press Freedom Prize, created in 1997, has taken risks anywhere in the world, especially in the world.
In April last year, Colombian intelligence journalist Zynet Fedoya was awarded the UNESCO-Guillermo Cano 2020 Prize, on the recommendation of an independent international arbitral tribunal of media experts.
