Isolation in 5 cities in Colombia due to increase in Govt-19 cases

(CNN Espanol) –– In Colombia, five of the most important cities re-imposed restrictions as the number of Govt-19 cases detected increased in the last hours.

Bogota, Gali, Madeleine, Barranquilla and Santa Marta will implement a general isolation over the next few days, officials said. This is with the aim of reducing the spread of the virus.

In Bogot, for example, Mayor Claudia Lopez announced a red alert for keeping 77% of beds in intensive care units.

Lopez said the isolation will begin at midnight this Thursday and last until 4 a.m. Monday.

For his part, Colombian President Ivan Duke said it was important to adhere to these measures and avoid fighting the virus.

“We know that no one here can reduce their security,” the president added.

In Colombia, as of this Thursday, more than 2.5 million positive cases of Govt-19 and 67,199 deaths have been confirmed since the outbreak.
