Chambliss earned Maxwell Award Player of the Week recognition after helping Ole Miss defeat LSU, while Woods was selected as the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following a disruptive defensive performance for Florida against Auburn.
The Maxwell Football Club presents two weekly honors throughout the 2026 season. The Maxwell Award Player of the Week recognizes overall performance on offense, defense or special teams, while the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week honors outstanding defensive play.
Players do not have to appear on the Maxwell Award or Bednarik Award watch lists to be eligible for the weekly recognition.
Trinidad Chambliss Leads Ole Miss in Win Over LSU
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss secured Maxwell Award Player of the Week honors after producing a strong passing performance and accounting for three total touchdowns in the Rebels’ victory over LSU.
Chambliss completed 33 of 48 passing attempts for 363 yards, providing Ole Miss with consistent production through the air against its SEC opponent.
The quarterback also contributed on the ground, recording nine rushing attempts for two net yards and a rushing touchdown. His rushing performance was highlighted by a 15-yard run.
Chambliss finished the game with a quarterback rating of 89.7, adding another notable performance to his 2026 campaign.
His production comes as Ole Miss continues to pursue its College Football Playoff ambitions. Strong quarterback play will remain an important factor for the Rebels as they navigate the remainder of their schedule and attempt to stay in the national championship conversation.
Chambliss’ ability to move the offense through the passing game while also presenting a rushing threat gives Ole Miss additional flexibility at quarterback. His performance against LSU provided another indication of his importance to the Rebels’ offense as conference competition continues.
Jayden Woods Makes Defensive Impact for Florida
Florida sophomore outside linebacker Jayden Woods received the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week honor after making his presence felt throughout the Gators’ SEC matchup against Auburn.
Woods finished the game with 2.5 sacks and six tackles. Of those six tackles, 3.5 were tackles for loss, reflecting his ability to disrupt plays in the Auburn backfield. He also recorded one quarterback hurry.
According to Pro Football Focus, Woods generated more pressures than any other player on Florida’s defense during the matchup.
His 2.5 sacks also tied defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo for the team lead in sacks, giving Florida multiple sources of pressure against Auburn.
For Woods, the performance provided another opportunity to establish himself within the Gators’ defense during his sophomore season. His production behind the line of scrimmage and ability to pressure the quarterback were central features of his performance.
The Bednarik weekly recognition puts additional attention on Woods as Florida moves through the remainder of its 2026 schedule.
