The Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will host a free outreach event in Anadarko aimed at helping veterans and surviving spouses determine whether they qualify for disability compensation, VA health care and other benefits expanded under the PACT Act.

The event, titled “Your Service. Our Mission: Bringing VA Benefits Home,” will bring federal, state and Tribal veterans services together at the Apache Tribe Community Center. The program will focus on veterans who may have presumptive disabilities connected to military service, including conditions associated with exposure to toxic substances.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Apache Tribe Community Center, 620 E. Colorado Ave. in Anadarko. Attendance is free, lunch will be provided, and veterans, their spouses and surviving spouses of veterans are invited to attend.

Veterans Can Receive Help With VA Disability Claims

Veteran Service Officers will be available during the event to help attendees complete VA disability claim paperwork and better understand the claims process.

Compensation and Pension examinations will also be available onsite in select circumstances. While organizers said not every claim can be accommodated at the event, the service will be provided wherever possible.

VA personnel will conduct toxic exposure screenings and assist veterans seeking to enroll in VA health care. Staff will also provide replacement assistance for expired VA identification cards.

Representatives from several organizations are expected to participate, including the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Muskogee VA Regional Office and Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.

Local Vet Centers, Tribal and Indian Health Service programs, Tribal Veteran Service Officers and nonprofit partners will also have representatives available to answer questions and provide assistance.

PACT Act Expands Benefits for Toxic Exposure

A major focus of the event will be presumptive disabilities. A presumptive disability is a condition the VA considers related to qualifying military service even when it develops after a veteran has been discharged.

Veterans with qualifying presumptive conditions may be eligible for disability compensation, health care or other VA benefits.

The Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022, commonly known as the PACT Act, expanded VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxic substances during military service.

The legislation broadened access to care and benefits for veterans and their survivors while expanding the number of conditions that can be considered presumptively connected to military service.

Surviving spouses and widows are also encouraged to attend. Depending on individual circumstances, they may qualify for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation if a veteran died from a qualifying presumptive condition.

Veterans Encouraged to Bring Supporting Documents

Veterans who have relevant records available are encouraged to bring them to the event to assist Veteran Service Officers and VA personnel with evaluating and processing potential claims.

Recommended documents include medical records or other medical evidence, such as physician and hospital reports. Veterans can also bring records containing historical or military information relevant to the disability they are claiming.

Discharge or separation documents, including a DD-214 or equivalent record, should also be brought when available.

Surviving spouses and dependents seeking assistance are encouraged to bring applicable documentation, including marriage certificates, death certificates and children’s birth certificates.

VA Continues Outreach Across Tribal Communities

The Anadarko event is part of a broader VA campaign to improve access to health care and benefits among veterans in Tribal communities.

Throughout 2026, the VA is conducting enrollment and claims events in partnership with more than 30 Tribal communities nationwide. The outreach effort is intended to connect previously unreached veterans and their families with services and benefits that may be available to them.

For veterans and surviving spouses in Oklahoma, the Kiowa Tribe event will provide an opportunity to meet directly with VA, state and Tribal representatives in one location while receiving assistance with disability claims, toxic exposure screenings, health care enrollment and other benefit-related questions.
