Toronto-based rock band Wine Lips has released “If You Don’t Know,” the second single from their upcoming album TV Dinner, scheduled for release on August 28 through Stomp Records. The new track highlights the group’s ability to combine psychedelic intensity, garage punk aggression, and alternative rock influences while exploring a more reflective side of their sound.

The song, listed at 3:14 with no explicit lyrics, continues the momentum created by the band’s previous single “Projector.” While that release delivered a sharper and more confrontational approach, “If You Don’t Know” takes a more inward direction, focusing on themes of exhaustion, change, and personal reflection without losing the urgency that has defined Wine Lips’ music.

Drawing influence from the distorted power of 1990s alternative rock and garage scenes, the track blends heavy guitar textures, energetic rhythms, and psychedelic elements. Its sound combines the hook-driven impact associated with bands such as The Hives, the experimental garage atmosphere of Osees, and the fast-moving energy of Frankie and the Witch Fingers.

Built around distorted vocals, chorus-heavy guitar work, and a steady mid-tempo rhythm, “If You Don’t Know” showcases the band’s raw approach while maintaining a strong melodic foundation. The track’s production captures Wine Lips’ signature balance between controlled songwriting and unpredictable psychedelic noise.

The song’s instrumentation creates a driving atmosphere, with guitars spreading into a blurred sonic landscape while Aurora Evans’ drumming provides a powerful foundation. Her sharp, forceful percussion gives the track a physical intensity that reinforces the band’s live-performance energy.

Wine Lips Reflect on Time, Burnout, and Their Expanding Global Reach

Lyrically, “If You Don’t Know” examines feelings of burnout, distance, and the realization that life changes over time. The line “Been a long long while since 16” reflects a moment of self-awareness, looking back on earlier years while recognizing the experiences that shape adulthood.

Rather than presenting nostalgia as an emotional escape, the song approaches the passage of time as a quiet realization. Its themes connect with the uncertainty and fatigue of modern life, capturing the feeling of moving through routines while trying to understand personal growth and change.

Over the past decade, Wine Lips have developed a strong independent presence in the global rock scene. The band has accumulated more than 50 million streams, received recognition from Iggy Pop on BBC Radio, and built an international following through extensive touring across North America, Europe, the UK, and Asia.

The group’s continued growth has positioned them as one of Canada’s notable independent rock acts. Their music has maintained a balance between underground credibility and worldwide appeal, allowing them to reach audiences beyond traditional genre boundaries.

Following the release of TV Dinner, Wine Lips will continue their international touring schedule, including a fall tour supporting Death From Above 1979 and additional European performances planned for the future.

With the upcoming album, the band further develops the contrast between chaotic energy and focused songwriting. While earlier releases leaned heavily into psychedelic experimentation and fast-paced exploration, TV Dinner presents a more grounded perspective shaped by modern pressures, digital distractions, and long periods of uncertainty.

“If You Don’t Know” represents that evolution, delivering a track that remains loud and unpredictable while introducing a more thoughtful perspective. Through its combination of heavy guitars, energetic rhythms, and reflective songwriting, the single reinforces Wine Lips’ ability to evolve while preserving the intensity that has built their dedicated fan base.
