Oklahoma City — Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), has formally endorsed Jon Echols in his campaign to become Oklahoma’s next Attorney General, adding the weight of a nationally recognised conservative legal organisation to the race.

Sekulow, a prominent figure within the United States conservative legal movement, announced his support for Echols citing a record of collaboration on high-profile constitutional and public policy cases. The endorsement places Echols alongside a network of conservative legal advocates at a time when state-level attorney general races are drawing increasing attention for their influence on business regulation, constitutional litigation, and federal–state relations.

Speaking about his decision, Sekulow said, “When the ACLJ needed a conservative attorney in Oklahoma to stand with us to protect religious liberty and defend the Constitution; we called Jon Echols. From the case to keep President Trump on the ballot, to defending school choice, to protecting life and our conservative values; Jon Echols was there.”

The ACLJ is known for its involvement in constitutional litigation, often representing conservative interests in cases related to religious liberty, education policy, and election law. Its backing of Echols signals confidence in his legal credentials as well as his alignment with the organisation’s broader policy agenda.

Legal Record and Federal Court Involvement

One of the most notable collaborations referenced by Sekulow involved a federal court case in Oklahoma concerning former President Donald Trump’s eligibility to appear on the state ballot. Echols worked alongside the ACLJ after a lawsuit was filed seeking to remove Trump from consideration. The case was ultimately dismissed, a result supporters point to as evidence of Echols’ effectiveness in high-stakes constitutional litigation.

For business observers, attorney general races increasingly matter due to the office’s oversight of regulatory enforcement, litigation involving commercial interests, and the defence of state statutes that can affect market conditions. Echols’ supporters argue that his legal experience and legislative background position him as a steady hand in an office with growing national significance.

Responding to the endorsement, Echols welcomed Sekulow’s backing and highlighted his own record in public office. “I am so thankful to have Jordan Sekulow’s endorsement in this race, and it has been a privilege to work with him, and others at the ACLJ, to stand up for Oklahomans conservative principles,” Echols said. He added, “Results matter and I have the proven track record of conservative leadership like defending religious liberty, passing constitutional carry, and defending President Trump. Oklahomans are resonating to these accomplishments, and I look forward to continuing to fight for them as Attorney General.”

Political Background and Business Experience

Echols is a fifth-generation Oklahoman with a background that combines law, business, and legislative leadership. He is an accomplished attorney and small business owner, credentials that may appeal to voters focused on economic growth and regulatory certainty. His political career includes serving as Majority Floor Leader of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, a position he held for eight years, making him the longest-serving floor leader in the state’s history.

During his time in the legislature, Echols was involved in shaping conservative policy initiatives, including measures related to public safety and constitutional rights. Supporters argue that this experience has given him a deep understanding of how laws are crafted, implemented, and defended—an essential skill set for an attorney general responsible for representing the state in court and advising government agencies.

Wider Implications of the Endorsement

Sekulow’s endorsement may also resonate beyond Oklahoma. Attorney general offices across the United States have increasingly played a role in multistate litigation affecting federal regulations, environmental policy, healthcare, and corporate compliance. For UK-based business readers, such races offer insight into the evolving legal environment of key US states that are attractive destinations for investment, particularly in energy, manufacturing, and agriculture.

Echols has framed his campaign around making Oklahoma “safer, freer, and stronger,” a message that aligns with conservative voters while emphasising stability and predictability in governance. With backing from a nationally recognised legal organisation and a record of legislative leadership, his campaign is positioning itself as both ideologically consistent and institutionally experienced.

As the race for Oklahoma Attorney General continues, endorsements such as Sekulow’s underscore how legal expertise, political alignment, and organisational support are shaping contests that can have lasting implications for state policy and the broader business climate.
