STILLWATER, Oklahoma — MediFlight of Oklahoma is set to host a specialist training session for emergency medical providers in the Stillwater area, offering an advanced airway course designed to strengthen critical-care skills and foster collaboration among first responders across central Oklahoma.
The hands-on course, which will take place on Friday, 14 November 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Stillwater Medical Center’s West Conference Room, 1323 W 6th Avenue, will focus on the development of advanced airway management techniques. The event aims to enhance both the confidence and competency of those providing emergency care in the field — particularly within rural and remote environments where rapid intervention can be the difference between life and death.
A Collaborative Approach to Lifesaving Care
MediFlight of Oklahoma said the initiative is intended to promote collaboration and communication among regional emergency response agencies. By bringing together paramedics, flight medics, and local EMS personnel, the organisation hopes to ensure consistent, evidence-based standards of care are shared and practised across the region.
The session will include practical instruction on laryngoscopy skills, pre- and post-intubation support, and the Suction-Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination (SALAD) technique — a procedure that enables clinicians to clear vomit, blood, or other obstructions from a patient’s airway during the intubation process.
According to MediFlight, these are essential competencies for all emergency medical service providers, particularly those operating in rural settings where advanced hospital care may not be immediately available.
Specialist Training for Regional First Responders
Participation in the course is free of charge, but pre-registration is required. The course is being delivered by MediFlight’s team of expert clinicians, who bring significant experience in both ground and air-based critical care.
The organisation emphasised that the training will provide participants with the opportunity to practise essential airway procedures under close supervision, using realistic equipment and scenarios designed to simulate high-pressure environments.
MediFlight said the focus would be on practical proficiency — ensuring that emergency responders can perform complex airway interventions effectively, even under adverse or unpredictable conditions.
Strengthening Skills and Regional Readiness
The training forms part of MediFlight of Oklahoma’s broader commitment to advancing emergency medical care throughout the state. The organisation, which provides helicopter-based critical care transport, works in close partnership with hospitals, fire departments, and ambulance services to deliver rapid response and advanced clinical capabilities where they are needed most.
The upcoming course in Stillwater reflects a growing emphasis on inter-agency training and knowledge-sharing across the emergency services sector. In particular, the inclusion of the SALAD technique represents a significant step forward in ensuring that first responders are equipped to manage airway complications effectively in real-world scenarios.
Media Invitation and Organisational Commitment
Members of the media have been invited to attend the event to observe the training and learn more about how emergency medical professionals prepare for high-stakes situations. The session will highlight how collaborative training contributes to improving survival outcomes for patients across Oklahoma.
A MediFlight spokesperson said the organisation “is committed to ensuring that every emergency responder has access to the latest evidence-based training in airway management.” The spokesperson added that the goal is “to help our partners deliver the best possible care to the people of central Oklahoma through continuous skill development and inter-agency cooperation.”
