NASA on alert over report that gives low life expectancy

the a pot She's not having her best moments, because despite having many active missions and her quest to return to the moon with Artemis, her foundation is in danger, according to a report From the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).

The NASEM report was written by a panel of aerospace experts and outlines what it sees as a potential “hollow future” for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It addresses issues of underfunding due to “a long-term decline in national focus on civil aviation and space,” something NASA itself recognizes and agrees with.

What areas is NASA interested in?

  • “Short-term measures without sufficient consideration of long-term needs and impacts”
  • Relying on “landmark-based service procurement contracts” and
  • Inefficiency due to “slow and cumbersome business processes”
  • Concerns about the current generation of talent being siphoned off by private airlines,
  • The next generation of engineers is not receiving an adequate knowledge base due to underfunded public school systems.

Finally, the report states frankly that NASA's infrastructure “has already exceeded its useful life.”
