Yesterday the Municipal Institute for Participation and Learning for Democracy was presented, an activity attended by the Mayor of the city, Eduardo Acastillo; the Minister of Government, Culture and Institutional Relations, Marcos Boffo; the Dean of the UNVM Institute of Social Sciences, Gabriel Suárez; the Minister of Open Government of the Province of Cordoba, Gabriel Rubere; and the Director of Participatory Planning and Implementation of the Municipality, Mariana Ruich.

To implement the institute, an agreement was signed between the municipality and the Academic Pedagogical Institute of Social Sciences of the National University of Villa María.

In this vein, Acastillo highlighted: “The pioneering and participatory democracy of Villa María has made us one of the most important cities in Argentina. We are a city where the population is empowered, through neighborhood institutions, working together with the municipal state in innovative transformations that, for example, have led us to have 100 percent of services.

For his part, Marcos Bovo noted: “When Mayor Acastillo started this administration, he proposed open work, active listening and dialogue to design policies that respond to new demands, and to strengthen spaces for citizen participation through detailed work.”

Bank of ideas

Within the framework of the Citizen Participation Program, an Ideas Bank will also be created, a space designed for the community and the co-construction of the city, which will encourage the community to submit ideas, proposals and projects that encourage transformation and solve everyday difficulties.

This space, designed for community and the co-construction of the expected city; realizing that progress towards a new future is a shared responsibility between the municipality, citizens and social actors.
