The return trip to Earth for two NASA astronauts in orbit aboard the company's troubled Starliner was delayed for a third time until Saturday, as engineers Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams cooled on the ground aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Race against time to fix the many problems on the spacecraft.
According to officials, they have 45 days to bring them back.
The Starliner shuttle's return module is attached to the ISS's Harmony module, but Harmony is running low on fuel, making the window for a safe return flight increasingly narrow, officials said.
Wilmore and Williams are due to return home on June 13 after a week on the ISS.
But with problems including five helium leaks aboard the Starliner, they remain.
Problems with the Starliner included five boosters suddenly stopping working during the flight and a series of helium leaks, according to CNN.
Boeing X posters went to town asking Elon Musk to rescue astronauts aboard his SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.
“How dangerous is Boeing's Starliner? “You might need Space X to rescue your astronauts from the ISS,” wrote one
“Boeing Starliner is now literally falling into space,” Captain Coronado wrote.
