This information was first confirmed by journalist Eugenio Martínez through his social networks, in which he described “the CNE has accepted the candidacy of Dr. Edmundo González, presented by the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD).”
Likewise, he added, “The period for modification of voting instruments for this nomination ends on April 20.”

However, a few hours later the document issued by the CNE was shared through social networks.
Edmundo González was the provisional candidate registered by the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), as Corina Yoris's candidacy could not be registered with the CNE.
González graduated as an internationalist from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) and in 1981 received a master's degree in international relations from the American University located in Washington, USA.
He is a career diplomat and has held positions such as the Directorate General of International Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) for four years between 1994 and 1998.
Between 1998 and 2002 he was Venezuela's ambassador to Argentina, and between 1991 and 1993 Venezuela's ambassador to Algeria. In addition, he is a member of the international editorial board of El Nacional newspaper.
