The organization announced in December that the youth tournament, which will begin biennially in early 2025, will grow from 24 to 48 teams in the men's division and from 16 to 24 in the women's division.
This is no doubt good news for countries like Honduras as it will allow better training for young players.
It should be remembered that Honduras has been eliminated in the last editions of the World Cup in this category and will now have a good chance of returning to the first round of 48 participating countries.
The host countries are yet to be announced and FIFA has “selected a fixed venue for five years to use existing infrastructure in the interest of efficiency and sustainability of the tournament,” it said in a statement.
The selection of Qatar and Morocco shows the good standing of both countries before FIFA. The first received the 2022 men's World Cup, and Morocco will be one of three hosts of the centenary edition in 2030, along with Spain and Portugal, in addition to the first three tournaments in South America.
Qatar has hosted the Club World Cup twice (2019 and 2020) and Morocco has hosted the 2013, 2014 and 2022 editions in addition to the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025.
