The Electoral Commission of the Bar Association elects Trajano Potentini as President

The National Electoral Commission of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic (CARD) issued a resolution in compliance with the High Electoral Tribunal's (TSE) ruling that ordered a fresh count of the votes cast in the December 2, 2023 election. , considering only “validly recognized contracts”.

In a meeting, the National Electoral Commission, with 4 votes in favor of its 5 members, issued Resolution CNE-(CARD)-0014-2024, electing Trajano Vidal Potentini as President for the period 2023-2026.

In the new number, formally recognized alliances were considered, among them Trajano Vidal Potentini, National Consensus, plate no. 1, and Diego Jose Garcia, Legal Dignity.

Vidal Potentini and his allies received a total of 11,473 votes, 48.77% of the total. Johan Lopez of Nuevos Tiempos came in second with 10,817 votes with 45.96% of the vote.

Also, Pedro Rodríguez Montero from the National Convergence got 931 votes and Osiris Díaz Ynoa from the CARD Rescue movement got 302 votes.

A total of 78,395 lawyers qualified for the electoral process, of which 24,109 exercised their right to vote, National Electoral Commission President Yedelphonso Prieto said.

Likewise, the new president of the Bar Association held the first ordinary meeting of CARD's new National Council, which consisted of the majority of elected and sworn-in leaders of the association's respective sections, addressing them on various topics in governance. and corporate governance of the Bar Association, trade union, making and implementing various decisions in this regard.
