Face it: No matter how many hours of videos you watch a day on YouTube, there’s no way you’ll watch everything that appears every day, let alone all the videos that come out in a year. Of course, there’s always someone watching that you don’t notice, and the year-end most viewed count might tell us the most important thing to hit YouTube in 2023.

Just because they have more views doesn’t mean they’re better, but their popularity after a year isn’t entirely a coincidence. Almost all of them are music videos and, the best thing for us, almost all are in Spanish, or part of Latin music, which speaks the weight of our language and culture in the world at the moment. Without further ado, here’s a rundown of the seven most popular videos of the year on YouTube

7. flowers, Jisoo – 439 million views

JISOO – ‘꽃(FLOWER)’ M/V

In addition to Latin music, the other defining trend of 2023 is the obsession with K-Pop, and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is a prime example of this. Flower, her mid-paced dance track, effortlessly blends traditional Korean melodies with more contemporary pop and was a big hit on the streamer this year. Flower was Jisoo’s first top 10 hit, but given its massive success, the song is unlikely to be her last.

6. She dances alone, Arms Link and Featherweight – 449 million views

Ella Paila Sola – (Official Video) – Esclaban Armado y Peso Pluma – DEL Records 2023

She dances aloneThe song became the first regional Mexican song to reach Billboard’s top 10, thanks to the success of TikTok, as the song first went viral.

The song went viral as the song was very catchy and the story of two friends who notice a girl dancing alone caught the attention of many. Armado and Pluma are top-notch artists, but given the massive success of this song, they could have a pretty big future ahead of them.

5. AN X100TO, Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny – 637 million views

Grupo Frontera x Bad Bunny – UN X100TO (Official Video)

Bad Bunny was overtaken by Taylor Swift as the most streamed artist of 2023, so the song is bound to be an ultra-viral hit.

Another song with a heavy regional Mexican influence (Grupo Frontera’s Sports and Commerce) combined with Bad Bunny’s talent and popularity to create one of the biggest songs of the year. Bad Bunny has previously spoken about his love of regional Mexican music, but AN X100TO It was his first appearance in that genre of song.

4. FlowersMiley Cyrus – 652 million views

Miley Cyrus – Flowers (Official Video)

The only song by an American artist to make the list, Flowers Written by Miley Cyrus, it was one of the biggest hits of the year and it seemed to offer many revealing details about her relationship with Liam Hemsworth.

Among other things, the video clearly shows that Miley is convinced that Liam had an affair with Jennifer Lawrence. Whether those allegations are true or not (Lawrence has denied them), they certainly contributed to the song’s massive success.

3. Shakira || BZRP Music Sessions #53 – 661 million views

Shakira || BZRP Music Sessions #53

Shakira was the most dominant artist of the year on YouTube, and her sessions with BZRP broke the Internet at #53 and became one of the most popular songs of the year. The song is directly and almost openly directed at her ex, Gerard Piqué, and serves as a female empowerment anthem.

It was Shakira’s first Billboard Top 10 hit since 2007 and peaked at number one in 16 countries. On top of all this, the song seems to have had a significant impact on the sales of the brands mentioned in the song.

2. Baby (Remix)Yng Lvcas & Featherweight – 704 million views

Yng Lvcas & Peso Pluma – La Bebe (Remix) [Video Oficial]

Originally released in 2021, Yng Lvcas’ song got a new life in 2023 thanks to two things: a remix and some virality on TikTok. This remix of the song with Bezo Pluma has been viewed more than 700 million times this year, adding to all the listeners it has accumulated on other platforms.

The remix was just as warmly received by critics as the original song, but more importantly, the remix was timely, capitalizing on all the success TikTok already had.

1. TQGShakira & Carol G – 899 million views

Carol G, Shakira – TQG (Official Video)

That’s right: Shakira is three and one in 2023. TQG He releases it with Carol G, and it’s the most watched video of the year and closer to a billion views than any other video released in 2023.

The title, that is It turned out great for youand is a mix of empowerment and subversion, and draws on the influence of reggaeton, which was so popular on the charts this year.
