Dominican soldiers and Haitian citizens clashed this Tuesday, as a group of Haitians expressed their disagreement with agents of the Dominican Republic patrolling in front of the perimeter fence built between the two countries.
According to reports, Haitians have expressed their disagreement with the patrol for weeks, saying that all areas leading from the perimeter fence into Haiti are not Dominican land and therefore the Dominican Republic’s military cannot penetrate the fence.
However, Dominican officials have pointed out that the construction of the wall is being carried out meters before the border posts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, so there is still a small area of land after the fence that belongs to the country.

According to data provided by local media, this Tuesday’s clash was supported by agents patrolling the area by a “large group” of the military to guarantee the integrity of the region.
