Santo Domingo.- Politicians and media figures vehemently rejected the nationhood granted on Wednesday To the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

Vinicio Castillo Semán, political leader of the National Progressive Party (FNP), disagreed, considering that Vargas Llosa and his son had falsely accused the Dominican Republic of racism and statelessness.

For his part, Pelegrin Castillo, former deputy and leader of the National Progressive Party (FNP), said Vargas Llosa did not deserve to be granted privileged nationality.

Through his Twitter account Pelegrín Castillo, although Vargas Llosa accused the country of the Nazis through the sentence 168/13, the president characterized the initiative as a serious historical error.

Similarly, spokesperson Consuelo Despradel also pointed out that it was a shame for the Dominican Republic to grant citizenship to a writer who was not even Peruvian because he was Spanish.

“He told us that with that sentence we nationalized more than 200,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent, and not only that, but that sentence corresponds to the most Nazi demonstrations that can be done against a people, yes he said it himself,” Consuelo said.

He pointed out that a man like him, who married his own aunt and was always jealous of Gabriel García Márquez, did not deserve Dominican nationality.

Reactions arise after President Luis Abinader presented him this Wednesday Citizenship for author Mario Vargas Llosa Of Peruvian descent and living between Santo Domingo and Juan Tolio.

Both the president and the writer were accompanied by their respective wives and other relatives when the announcement was made.
