Barahona.- The leader of the People’s Army Party, Leonel Fernandez, has expressed the opinion that Dominicans are increasingly disaffected with the current government, and recent surveys show that 51 percent of them are ready to leave the country.

Fernandez spoke here during a jam-packed event at the halls of the Resurrection and Life Christian Center as part of his two-day agenda in Barahona, Asua and Peravia.

“We saw in the surveys what we did not notice before: 51% of the people surveyed say they are ready to leave the country because they do not see a future in the Dominican Republic,” he emphasized.

“When a majority of a country’s people say they are ready to leave because they don’t see a future in the land of their birth, that’s the worst,” he opined.

In the first place is the People’s Army

He alleged that because of this disagreement of the people with the current government, already in the southern provinces and Greater Santo Domingo, surveys indicate that the People’s Force is the first priority of the voters.

Fernández was greeted by a large crowd of supporters at the Vicente Noble meeting just after 12:00 p.m. He went through Canoa and Jacquimías until he reached the center of Barahona.

At the Resurrection and Life Christian Center he was received by dozens of people who, according to the FP’s note, former reformers and PRD leaders decided to join this organization and were sworn in by the opposition leader.

The note added that the amphitheater where they met was filled to capacity, so many people had to stay outside, at the front.

Former presidents who joined the FP include Francisco Bautista Bautista, a former trustee of Villa Central; Former Interim President of the PRSC, Jose del Carmen Acosta; Former Councilor Epifanio Pérez, former PRD President Romilda Sufron, Juan José Méndez, José Acosta, Omaira Mañón, Alcibíades Pérez, Manuel Santana, Manuel Cuevas, Vianna Cocco Peña and David Lama.

Additionally, Elsis Casilda Díaz de Santana, wife of journalist José Altagracia Santana (Sino Video).

Speaking on behalf of the inductee, former reformist leader Eugenio Pérez said he decided to join the Fuerza del Pueblo because he saw “a light on the road” in the organization at a time when people were dying of hunger and Dominicans. Not eating”.

Fernández was President of the Republic for three terms (1996–1990, 2004–2008 and 2008–2012) presented by the Dominican Liberation Party. He resigned from the latter in 2019 and on October 17 of that year formed the party FP, of which he is president and presidential candidate.
