A phrase that accurately captures the madness of the Trump era

(CNN) – In an interview Donald Trump Earlier this week, Conservative radio presenter Hugh Hewitt said something really impressive.

“You know, Mr. President, you and I disagree on the election, but we agree a lot,” Hewitt told Trump, which led to a conversation about China’s hypersonic missiles.

Hewitt said it was a window into how conservatives have found ways to justify Trump and his fundamental undemocratic attempts to undermine the confidence of the American people in the 2020 election results.

Here’s the truth: You can not just say “blah, blah, blah” about Trump rejecting the election. Because by refusing to accept the outcome of the 2020 election and repeatedly (and falsely) accusing it of electoral fraud, Trump is actively working against the United States, all that makes America.

Hewitt’s attempt to dismiss his disagreement with Trump at the time as another political dissent is ridiculous. Hewitt did not say we should stay in Afghanistan, Trump says US troops should be withdrawn. This is the former president of the United States who refuses to accept the results of the national election.

In fact, it’s more than that. Trump has turned the election rejection into a litmus test for Republican candidates. If you do not want to say that you believe the 2020 election was rigged, not only will you not have Trump’s support, but you can see that he is actively working to defeat you when you run for re – election. Refusal to believe in free and fair election results should disqualify any party leader. This is not negotiable.
