Russian division of the International Space Station (ISS) “Is in last place”Vladimir Solovyov, head of its aviation program, former astronaut and spacecraft builder, said in an interview with Russia’s official agency RIA Novosti today.

“At the end of July, a meeting of the Presidium of the Roscosmos Techno-Scientific Council (Russian Space Agency) was held, highlighting the station being on its last leg.”Builder Solovyov, head of Energuvia Corporation, which builds rockets and spacecraft, said.

According to the division’s head of aviation, none of the participants in the recent Builders Council meeting guaranteed that the orbital platform equipment would continue to operate beyond 2025.

“They all verbally promise that nothing will be damaged, but they will not stamp their signatures on the bottom of a document,” Solovyov said, proposing to create a new Russian space in view of the depreciation of the ISS. Station

Last April, after the discovery of air leaks in the Russian section of the ISS, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov announced that the condition of the stage structures could be catastrophic.

Solovyov confirmed that 80% of the equipment in the Russian Zvezdá block is already out of warranty period.

We never hide this information. This is all in our report. We have been warning for years that it is time to think about a new space station“, He insisted.

For his part, Roscosmos spokesman Vladimir Ustimenko told TASS that “the situation regarding the security and operation of the station is under control” until 2025.

On July 31, the Russian space agency (Roscosmos) released a statement by Director General Dmitry Rokosin. Pressure drop in the transfer chamber of the Russian block Zvezdá International Space Station (ISS)

I saw pressure reports: 14.07, 473 mm; 20.07, 273 mm; 25.07, 200mm ”, the leader of Roscomos wrote on Twitter.

In the previous week, the pressure in the transmission chamber had dropped to 160 mm, the day the Russian multipurpose science module was connected to the Nazca Svesta, a maneuver changed direction due to the spontaneous ignition of its impulses 45 degrees ISS, which must be adjusted.

“This is the expected pressure drop, but not abruptly, in the Zvezdá constituency, there are still problems,” Rokosin said, stressing that the situation “has nothing to do with Naka’s affiliation”.

The first air leak in the Zvezdá block, caused by a 4 cm long crack, was detected in September 2020 and sealed, but continued to decrease despite the low pressure.

In March of this year, ISS crew members closed two more cracks in the Swesta, but hermetic tests of the block found that the pressure was continuing to drop.

According to Roscosmos, these small air leaks do not represent any danger to the crew of the orbital site because they can offset the resources on board.

The Russian space agency noted that the Zvezdá module was isolated from the “main module” of the transit station.
