The Santa Marta de Tormes City Council has made improvements to the Protagonistas Room to offer visitors a more modern and attractive space. The objective of these works, explained the Councilor for Tourism, Juan Carlos Bueno, is to offer a cultural space according to a municipality that is committed to art and culture to attract visitors.

The renovation of the floor of the exhibition hall, has specified the mayor, was necessary because it was very deteriorated. It has been chosen to place a light-colored platform that provides greater amplitude to this municipal space. The Councilor for Tourism has highlighted that the image of the room has improved notably thanks to this action that has involved a minimum investment for the City Council. The lighting in the room has also been revised and decorative elements have been placed next to the exit door.

It should be remembered that this space is located next to the José Fuentes Museum of Contemporary Art, on the ground floor of the Santamartina Town Hall building. The exhibition hall houses temporary exhibitions, mainly by lesser-known artists than those exhibiting works in the Tragaluz Room, located in the Sociocultural Building, and the Miguel Delibes Room, in the Isla del Soto Interpretation Center. Being located in the City Hall, the room has a very long visiting hours, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Likewise, it can be visited on weekends with the possibility of arranging a guided tour.

Since it was put into operation at the beginning of last year, the room has hosted several exhibitions of different themes, styles and formats than those shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art, in order to attract all types of audiences.

Currently, the Protagonistas Room hosts the exhibition of photographs by Alex Gutiérrez, starring nature. The artist from Santamartina shows until July 31 about thirty moments captured by her “observing eye” as she herself defines it.
