Technological advances have made companies increasingly look for employees with a profile that specializes in digital skills. Hence the data science program developed by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, whose last call graduated 1,543 people out of 1,811 who started training. Of these, 37 teachers are accredited by partner higher education institutions.

“It gives us great pleasure to have new data scientists in the country. With these results, we provide effective solutions to companies in the public and private sectors, contribute to digital transformation and reduce the digital talent gap. From 2019 to date, we have been able to certify 3,838 Colombians in this Specialization”, emphasized Carmen Legia Valderrama Rojas, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, who thanked the allies who accompanied the project.

Digital talent is currently one of the most in-demand disciplines in the business. According to a Quant Hub report, 67% of companies are hiring or expanding their data analytics teams.

The data science call aims to train undergraduate students and professionals from various specialization fields in data science applied to artificial intelligence, giving them skills to capture, store, process and represent data for decision making and problem solving.

To ensure the quality of training, the ministry has relied on Correlation One, as an ally, as well as nine accredited high-quality institutions of higher education: EAFIT University, Universidad del Norte, Universidad de Cartagena, Universidad del Cauca, Universidad del Quindío, the Julio Garavito Colombian School of Engineering, and the University of Cordoba. The University of Externado in Colombia, and the University of La Sabana.

In this way, MinTIC continues to strengthen its technology personalization programs, so that Colombians face the challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
