The Forecast Center of the Meteorological Institute (INSMET) reported that Cuba experienced the coldest morning of the year this Wednesday, with temperatures below 7°C and below 10°C in several weather stations.
Combined with the presence of a cold front affecting the island since Sunday, the records marked the lowest value of 2024.
Cienfuegos and Santa Clara airports were at least 9 °C, and the territories of Indio Hatuey (6.3 °C) and Colón (6.4 °C) in Matanzas; Painoa in Mayabeque (6.9 °C), had lower values this morning.
This weather event represents a milestone for the current year as it is the only time many places have recorded temperatures below 7 °C since a minimum of 5.9 °C was recorded in the early morning hours of January 1 at Pynoa.
INSMET its warning Weather report Cooler conditions today, especially in the west, with overnight temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius.
Areas in the center of the country are expected to experience similar temperatures, while in the eastern region, nighttime minimum temperatures will range from 16 to 19 degrees Celsius.
