Concerns grow over a cruise ship-sized asteroid hitting Earth

Note

An asteroid the size of a cruise ship is approaching Earth, alerting space agency scientists.

According to NASA, the asteroid Apophis will pass within 32,000 kilometers of Earth on April 13, 2029, and the event has caused global concern as it will cause unparalleled tragedy. As a result, scientists and astronomers began to develop techniques to deflect or reduce this rocky body.

The American special agency clarified that this fact “does not indicate an immediate danger”, although action should be taken to observe its behavior or other phenomena that can give a real dimension of how this large asteroid damages the ecosystem.

Before this event in 2029, the RAMSES spacecraft will encounter the asteroid in 2028 and follow it throughout its journey to observe how it begins to disintegrate due to our planet's gravity.
