NASA releases new panoramic image of the center of the Milky Way | Currently

CABO CAÑAVERAL, Florida, EE.UU.– The NASA It has released a new view of our galaxy’s turbulent and super-energetic center.

This photo combines 370 images taken by the Lunar Orbit X-ray Laboratory and describes the billions of stars and countless black holes in the heart of the Milky Way. A radio telescope in South Africa contributed to the image variation.

Daniel Wang, an astronomer at the University of Massachusetts on the Amherst campus, said Friday that he worked for a year on film during his home imprisonment from the plague.

“What we see in the panorama is a turbulent or energetic ecosystem at the center of our galaxy,” Wang said in an email. “There are a lot of supernova remnants, black holes and neutron stars. Every point or element of X-rays represents a source of energy, most of which are centered ”.

This high-intensity, high-energy center of the galaxy is located 26,000 light-years from Earth.

Wang’s work was published in the June issue of the Royal Astronomical Society’s monthly issues.

Chandra was launched into space in 1999 and orbits the Earth in an elliptical orbit.
