Jacob Junis extended his scoreless innings streak to 14, giving the Kansas City Royals a seven-run lead in a 7-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday night.

Junice (1-0) allowed two runs and five wins in a walk while working in the sixth inning, but both points came with relief Jack Newberry on the mount.

Kyle Zimmer conceded a touchdown, while Scott Barlow allowed two opponents into the basement in the ninth inning, beating Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for his first save before dominating Bo Picchett with a flying ball.

Guerrero was embarrassed three times to complete the cycle with Blue Jazz. Toronto’s highlight was Dominican’s two outs in the seventh inning.

The ball swept the left-field springs and landed about 456 feet from the home plate.

It was not night for Toronto starter Anthony Kay (0-1), who conceded five runs and six wins in 3 1/3 innings.

The Royals attack collapsed before they could rise against the Angels on Wednesday. A line-up built to take advantage of the elaborate exteriors at Kaufman Stadium continued to gain extra ground on Thursday night.

Q Andrew Benindendi opened the board with a Reserve Bank double before his first opponent retired. In the third inning Nicky Lopez followed up with three RBIs – and a third paceman hit by Cavan Piccio’s error. But it was a terrible blow to the Blue Jazz when four of Kansas City’s first six hitters doubled in the fifth inning.

For the Royals, Cuban George Solar scored 4-2. Dominican Hanser Alberto scored one product and two goals in 3-2; Carlos Santana 4-0. Venezuela Salvador Perez 4-0.

For Blue Jays, Guerrero Jr. scored 5-3 with an RBI and two runs. Cuban Lourdes Currial Jr. scored 3-2. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 1-1.
