The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics joined Joby Aviation, federal aviation representatives and state policymakers for the demonstration at AAR Hangar 2 on the campus of OKC Will Rogers International Airport. The event provided participants with a close look at Joby’s autonomous flight technology and its potential applications across commercial, public-service and defense operations.
Oklahoma Hosts Stop on Joby Aviation’s National Tour
The Oklahoma City event was part of Joby Aviation’s coast-to-coast Electric Skies Tour, which is showcasing the company’s autonomous J208 aircraft across the United States.
The J208 is a modified Cessna Caravan equipped with Joby’s autonomous flight technology. The aircraft is designed to demonstrate how autonomous systems could be incorporated into existing aviation platforms and used for a range of missions.
According to information presented as part of the tour, the J208 has completed more than 400 flights and accumulated more than 800 automated flight hours. The aircraft has also participated in three U.S. military exercises, providing operational experience for the technology in defense-related environments.
