Montreal ska-punk band K-Man & The 45s has released “We Won’t Stop,” the first advance single from its upcoming album Heed The Call, which is scheduled to arrive October 9 through Stomp Records.
The single, released August 25 alongside a new music video and album presale, marks the latest chapter for a group that has spent more than a decade building an audience through touring across Canada, the United States and Europe. The track combines ska, punk rock and two-tone influences with a heavier rock-and-roll approach.
“We Won’t Stop” Sets the Tone for the New Album
“We Won’t Stop” offers the first look at the musical direction K-Man & The 45s is taking on Heed The Call. The song is driven by a prominent horn section, fast-moving rhythms and a chant-style hook that reflects the band’s established live sound.
The release identifies the track within the ska-punk, punk rock, two-tone, rock and roll and Canadian punk genres. It also points to The Clash, The Specials, Mad Caddies, The Planet Smashers, Big D and the Kids Table and The Slackers as comparable artists.
The song carries a direct message of frustration, expressed through the lyric: “There’s only one problem, it’s on top / Leaders are shit,” giving the track a sharper lyrical edge alongside its energetic arrangement.
Rather than separating that frustration from the band’s performance-driven approach, “We Won’t Stop” combines the two. The horns play a central role instead of serving primarily as background instrumentation, while the rhythm section maintains the pace associated with the group’s live performances.
