Matanzas will host a new space to feel the rumba

Saving the rumba tradition in Matanzas and recovering the usual spaces to bring it closer to the public are the objectives of Rumba King, which arrives in its first edition from July 24 to 28.

During the press conference held at the Social House for Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba In the province, it turned out that the event was intended to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the socio-cultural project Amor a Mi Raíz and the International Day of Women of Afro-Latina, Afro-Caribbean and Diaspora.

Rumba King Program

According to the Rumba King program, the opening will take place on the 24th at 5:00 p.m. at the Parque de la Rueda in the city of Yumurena with the performance of the basic drum performances starring the group of the Yoruba Cultural Association of Matanzas.

The event, sponsored by the provincial Directorate of Culture, includes workshops, conferences, discussion panels, lessons and exchange of experiences between rumba groups and researchers on the subject in the province and the country.

Spaces such as the Entre Puentes Cultural Centre and Calle del Medio will host the presentations. matanzas dollsAnd the Rumberos of Mayabeque, the Rumberatimba, the Afro-Cuba, the Matanceros and others.

During the press conference, Miguel Angel Drake Reyes, director of the Los Matanseros Folkloric Group, and Anya Arbolez, director of Por Amor Ami Reyes, highlighted the value of this event in preserving rumba as an intangible heritage of humanity and saving the rumba indigenous tradition in Matanzas.
